The position is an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS). All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network or electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system. ATSS personnel install, evaluate, maintain, modify and certify facilities, services and equipment that support the National Airspace System (NAS)

Qualifications
To qualify based on experience at the FV-G pay band, applicants must document 1 year of specialized work experience equivalent to at least the next lower level. Experience must demonstrate an extensive knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory; aptitude for solving mathematical problems (algebra, trigonometry); knowledge and ability to use tools, materials, and various types of specialized test equipment for the maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment/systems and experience in the technology, system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:• Knowledge of electronics theory and/or electro-mechanical theory.• Knowledge of electronic test equipment commonly used to align, adjust and maintain electronic and/or mechanical equipment/systems.• Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing electronic and/or mechanical equipment/systems.• Knowledge of basic electronic and/or electrical theory; aptitude for solving mathematical problems (algebra and/or trigonometry to perform electronic/electrical calculations); read and interpret technical drawings; and apply basic physics theory.• Knowledge of the use of tools, materials, and various types of electronic test equipment required for maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of NAS equipment/systems.• Ability to apply knowledge of electronics and/or electro-mechanical theory to troubleshoot and diagnose/repair electronic and/or electromechanical NAS equipment/systems using electronic test equipment and technical drawings.• Ability to apply knowledge of FAA orders and other publications to plan, coordinate, perform of logging and other documentation requirements following maintenance activitiesQualified applicants at the FV-G pay band must document 1 year of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the next lower level, that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory; aptitude for solving mathematical problems (algebra, trigonometry); knowledge and ability to use tools, materials, and various types of specialized test equipment for the maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of equipment such as:• Non-Directional Beacon (NDB) Transmitters/Receivers, Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VORs) Airborne Equipment, Tactical Aircraft Control and Navigation (TACAN) Airborne Equipment, Instrument Landing System (ILS) Airborne Equipment, Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Directional Finding (DF) Equipment, Global Positioning Systems (GPS)Well qualified applicants at the FV-G pay band will document extensive knowledge and skill in the operation, repair, installation, analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, and certification on all or some of the following ground-based systems such as:• Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-range (DVOR) Ground Equipment, Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VORs) Ground Equipment, Tactical Aircraft Control and Navigation (TACAN) Ground Equipment, Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) Ground EquipmentOR TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-G LEVEL BASED ON EDUCATION: Applicants must document one of the following:- 1) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 2) 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR 3) LL.M.; if related. Schools must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If qualifying based on education, applicants must submit a copy of the transcript which includes the name of the institution, quarter or semester hours earned and/or confer date.OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify
