This Senior Executive Service (SES) position is in the Office of Land and Emergency Management, Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation, Technology Innovation and Field Services Division.
This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. Partial work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized.

Duties
The Technology Innovation and Field Services Division provides technical support to a wide variety of customers, both internal and external to the agency. Technical support includes direct field assistance in responding to incidents and spills, developing or providing analytical services in the field and via laboratories, and training and supporting innovative field investigation and remediation technologies. The Division is responsible to provide technical direction as the first responder for environmental disasters which include hazardous waste or oil spills and counter terrorism preparation; analytical laboratory support through the management of the Contract Laboratory Program (CLP) or other non-CLP contracts; hazardous waste characterization, exposure assessment, outdoor and indoor air monitoring, and information management. The Division will have the responsibility for the development of response guidance and regulations as well as providing support for on-site response actions. The Division provides outreach training directed to assist regional and state project managers to integrate new technologies and tools into Superfund and other cleanup programs. The Director serves as an expert for information on remediation technologies; evaluate field readiness of potential remedies and identify important cost and performance issues.

Qualifications
The work of this position is classified in the Program Management, 0340 series where the qualifications include both general management skills and characteristics that are applicable to all SES positions and technical or program responsibilities specific to this position. Applicants must have substantive general experience which provides a good basic or general knowledge of the principles of organization, management and administration; and substantive specialized (operating administrative or managerial) experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to this position.
All applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform in this role. Typically this experience can be found in work within this field or a field that is closely related.
As a basic requirement for entry into the Senior Executive Service, applicants must also provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior level management capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Executive Core Qualifications and Technical Qualifications listed below.

B. Technical Qualifications (TQs) - Mandatory for all applicants - Failure to address these factors individually will result in your application being disqualified. TQ 1 - Demonstrated experience leading a large multi-disciplinary staff, including experience managing policy discussions, developing guidance as appropriate, and ensuring successful program execution.
TQ 2 - Demonstrated experience managing complex and often highly visible environmental responses/cleanups and/or the integration of new cleanup technologies into environmental cleanup work.
