About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Duties

Produce the Cyber Defense Review (CDR) journal, both online and hard copy, from creation to finish, coordinating with subject matter experts, contributors, representatives of other agencies, and internal staff. Advise authors on regulatory requirements outlined in Army regulations and journal-specific requirements. Ensure all publications meet West Point Press (WPP) standards and that contents conform to the rules of grammar and format and style requirements. Serve as the point of contact on all matters pertaining to journal editing functions within the WPP. Coordinate publication activities with printers, contractors, vendors, management, staff, and program personnel. Use social media and other avenues to solicit articles for publication. Initiate and execute administrative tasks, including composing correspondence; conducting interviews; coordinating with authors or information sources; obtaining copyright releases, biographical data, and official clearances. Ensure that all administrative and editorial requirements have been met to produce a printer-ready package. Advise authors regarding required edits and rewrites of submitted articles covering a variety of complicated cyber-specific subjects. Facilitate the blind review process of manuscripts, and recruit reviewers for peer-review evaluations. Prepare masthead and table of contents, source notes, and bibliographies based on information from authors. Perform as the liaison between authors and layout and design contractor during the proof stage of publication.
