About the Position: : This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Product Assurance (DPA), Quality Control Division.
Duties
Perform inspection tasks relative to the reconditioning, assembly, and/or test of components, subassemblies and major items of missile and radar control systems.
Utilize standard and special electronic test equipment, visual, and/or operational testing means to locate deficiencies and determine extent of repair.
Conduct in-process inspections of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and/or ground handling equipment on missile/radar systems and components.
Serve as a certified inspector for soldering operations in accordance with standards applicable to the maintenance operations.
Complete reject/discrepancy forms to describe deficiencies and insure correction by appropriate shop personnel.
Assist in research for various types of technical information to be used in the development of inspection plans.
Requirements
- Must be willing to accept an obligated position.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds during normal operations.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Must undergo pre-employment and physical exam annually with favorable results.
- Must be willing to accept a temporary appointment.
- Must be able to occasionally travel (10%) to attend workshops, training, or seminars.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Inspector certification for Soldering Operations in accordance with IPC J-STD standards.
- Must be able to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Inspect and do the work of an Electronic Integrated systems Inspector without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common tasks including: performing inspection tasks on major items of missile and radar control systems to locate deficiencies and determine extent of repair; conducting acceptance inspections throughout the shop after repair to determine adherence to specifications; and/or assisting with providing information on rejection reports. Operate standard electronic test equipment such as oscillators and gauges. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are property performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, walking, and climbing. Routinely lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. For bulky items or items of excessive weight may use additional personnel and/or materials handling equipment as needed.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Most buildings have cement floors and a few are unheated. Some work may be performed outside, subject to inclement weather. Occasionally work is of dirty, greasy nature with noise from production associated operations. There is a possibility of cuts, bruises, and strains.
