The purpose of the position is to install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.

Duties

Major Duties: Install, repair, preventive maintenance and inspection of the electrical distribution system and associated equipment. Perform work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment in industrial, institutional, office and residential buildings. Determine locations and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, connections and install wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances. Install, maintain, modify, and repair, existing electrical/electronic circuits, electrical lines, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Trace hard-to-detect faults associated with completion of repairs and installations. Use building plans to install and/or repair electrical equipment. Use codes, blueprints and building drawings to plan and layout new electrical work. Use hand tools such as cable pullers, conduit benders, threaders, and circuit testers. Work Schedule: Full Time, Various Tours Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD03943A Physical Requirements: Repairs and installations are made from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard to reach places. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work requires frequently lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds.

The work requires frequently lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: The work is performed both inside and outside. The incumbent is sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy, on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; an din close quarters such as manholes and attics. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns and rotary devises such as electrical motors; and is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
