Health Technician (Fit Test Coordinator) serves as the Safety FIT Test Coordinator in the Orlando Medical Center, Orlando, FL performs high-level administrative and technical duties and hold responsibilities in support of safety management with the intent of accomplishing the administrative and National Safety Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) requirements. Provides excellent health care that improves Veteran's health and well- being of VA employees.
Duties
Duties includes but not limited to:
Responsible for all OVAHCS administrative and technical FIT Testing duties to supporting the Safety service in a variety of high-level duties and responsibilities.
Coordinating and scheduling all walk-in for Fit Testing.
Inputs and manage data for scheduling FIT Test into different Excel spreadsheets and independently making changes as necessary and appropriate.
Manages the scheduling of emergent or pandemic related testing, and enters all Talent Management System (TMS) training.
Prioritizing procedure request from physicians, residents, and other clinical staff based on employee evaluation, manages and communicates cancellation situations.
Manages the scheduling of emergent or pandemic related testing, and enters all TMS training for VA employees and maintains compliance reports.
Responsible for disseminating proper and correct documents to employees for their Medical Clearance.
Provide weekly updates and FIT Testing reports for the ICS/MEC/EOC/GEM or any committee requiring reporting for FIT Testing.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/21/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR,
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Attends and participates in committee meetings as assigned. Conducting quantitative and qualitative testing for respirators, including data entry. Maintaining supply orders. Coordinating and scheduling all walk-in for Fit Testing. Following the HIPPA guidelines. Conducting mandatory Fit Testing. Prioritizing procedure requests. Maintains compliance reports. Manages and communicates cancellations. Following the guidance of the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Standard (OSHA). Serves as subject matter technical expert on training employees on proper Doffing and Donning of the respirator. Provides and Instructs guidance on NIOSH Certified Respirators.

Physical Requirements: The work is "medium". Typically, the employee stands more than 3 hours per day but not consecutively. However, there may be some walking; standing; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
