This Position is at a level of competence of a Journeyman in that the employee requires little supervision and has a strong understanding of complex engineering principles and practices. As system orientation and integration of the facilities system operations will be incorporated, the employee must have a full understanding of engineering system concepts to include automation monitoring.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitor and understand the engineering systems and emergency medical systems throughout the Medical Center by utilizing the Graphic Control Center's Energy Management System.
Operate, troubleshoot, maintain and repair a variety of conditions concerning the plant and support machinery to include but not limited to: boilers, chillers, a/c equipment, pumps and variable frequency drives.
Interpret the values and meaning represented by gauges, meters and other measuring scales that indicate temperatures, pressures and like devices.
Inspect, maintain and repair the air conditioning system, centrifugal compressors and their components used to cool the medical center.
Perform various operational repairs of two (2) multiple fuel power boilers and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment.
Monitor and check all operations of safety equipment with the air conditioning and/or boilers as well as the emergency diesel generators.
Be proficient in trouble shooting, repairing and/or verbal advise during emergency calls as the Graphic Control Operator, representing the Operations Foreman during off shift hours.
Must be able to understand the concept of teamwork and the importance each team member contributes tot he team to make the operation run smoothly.
Work Schedule: Varies depending on services needs.

Physical Requirements: The employee must be physically able to crawl, climb, bend, stoop and walk, have good eyesight (20/20 vision corrected), have good hearing, must not be color blind, able to lift and carry objects in various sizes and shapes weighing 45lb. and work in close spaces.
Working Conditions: The employee is subject to loud noise, fumes, dust and high heat, vibration, grease, sudden changes in temperature, rain, sun, wind and drafts. Exposed to hazard of high pressure steam, power equipment, electric shock, fumes from volatile liquids, hot water, chemical and noxious gases.
