You will serve as a DEFENSE TRAVEL SYSTEM SPECIALIST in the HEADQUARTERS and SERVICE BATTALION (HQSVCBN) of MARINE FORCES PACIFIC.

Duties

You will research policies and procedures to provide guidance on Joint Travel regulations, travel systems, and travel card programs. You will troubleshoot system deficiencies and functional oversights impacting mission objectives. You will possess high level interpersonal skills in presenting recommended course of actions for problem solving techniques and /or recommend new technologies to increase program efficiency. You will prepare internal documents, Power points presentations, and related reports to address at command brief and/or conferences. You will balance workload and tasks among team members based on program priorities and objectives. You will control and coordinate deployment, operations, and management of the defense travel system (DTS) (e.g., implement and manage day-to-day activities of system operations).

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serve as the compliance and support manager reviewing and implementing guidance, policies, and business rules by enforcing, disseminating, and abiding business processes and update operating procedures; process travel requests, vouchers, and archiving travel documents; provide training to users, travelers, and officials on travel system and a government travel card programs; and communicate to customers and/or high level authorities. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • I have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or
  • I have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or

  • I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
