You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will remove, repair/overhaul, install and align Naval vessel's main propulsion machinery. You will install and repair other types of ship machinery, including but not limited to cargo-handling machinery, anchor handling gear, elevators, conveyors, and fire fighting equipment. You will perform overhaul, repair, and modification and refueling of Nuclear Reactor Plan systems. You will examine and troubleshoot the extent repairs required, materials or parts needed, and estimate the time required to complete repairs.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
