Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
- Processes investigative cases and case-related materials from the opening date to final closure. Reviews case actions for technical adequacy and adherence to established policy and procedures. Reviews cases for preliminary determinations and ensures cases are properly closed. Retrieves information requested by the Investigator, Auditor, and/or Benefits Advisor as directed.
- Maintains control of files to indicate the status of reviews, nature of actions, follow-up action(s) required, and disposition of the case, and other essential control elements to ensure timely action to facilitate reporting.
- Conducts research by locating, recording, consolidating, analyzing, or summarizing information related to audits, investigations, or customer service. Assembles statistical data and accounting schedules collected at plan's facilities by auditors and/or investigators, for inclusion in reports of audits/compliance reviews.
- Contacts complainants in certain situations to gather information needed by EBSA professionals and managers to determine whether an investigation should be opened.
- Completes general office administrative duties as assigned including timekeeper, travel administration, training administration, performance management administration, mail administration, customer service, event administration, FOIA requests, etc.
- Participates in other office activities as needed. The incumbent receives telephone calls and visitors to the office. They elicit information and respond to inquiries as appropriate. The position arranges conferences including assembling materials, data, etc. Maintains manuals, directives, and other guidance necessary for office operations. Orders supplies for the office. Transmits information via email, as needed.

Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-6 in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
For this position specialized experience would be defined as experience: Experience in updating information in various on-line databases. Experience with administrative support which include familiarity with typing/reviewing documents for format, grammatical accuracy, maintaining files, handling correspondence, and transcribing correspondence and reports from rough drafts into proper format, etc. Received, reviewed, and distributed incoming correspondence for accuracy and completeness; handled office filing system, including hard copy or electronic files. Experience in oral communication with office personnel to accomplish objectives.
Education
There is no educational requirement at the GS-6.
