The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary financial and computer support assistant for the detachment performing a variety of computer, financial, and office automation duties.
Duties
Performs systems, local area network (LAN), and workgroup administration duties. Provides guidance to detachment users on the technical aspects of the AFOSI automated systems.
Serves as the AFOSI Detachment's Financial Resource Advisor. Serves as a member of host base financial working group and the Detachment Commander's spokesperson on the status and availability of unit funds.
Perform miscellaneous office automation and information management duties. Performs administrative review of all correspondence/documents for administrative completeness and correctness.
Serves as the detachment liaison for personnel, equipment/supply control, and investigative support matters. Prepares applicable documents for office contract maintenance, supplies, repair services, etc.

- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license, as he/she may be required to transport evidence or to obtain needed unit supplies and services.
- Incumbent must be willing to travel on military or commercial aircraft for temporary duty or training assignments.
- Emotional stability, tact, and maturity are necessary to cope with unusual and stressful situations.
- Employee must work under pressure.
- Irregular duty hours and overtime may be required.
- May be required to undergo a polygraph examination.
- AFOSI funds management is a particularly sensitive program since funds are closely monitored and used for authorized expenses in support of the AFOSI investigative mission.
- The legal requirements for managing Advance of Funds (confidential funds) are stringent and subject to severe legal sanction if not handled properly.
- This is a drug testing designation position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of budget and financial management regulations, practices, procedures, and policies; reviewing, validating and submitting a wide range of funds management and financial transactions, process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports; applying basic arithmetic to verify figures to determine availability of funds; knowledge of personal computer capabilities and limitations, peripheral equipment, software configuration, and automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques; troubleshooting and resolving problems with information systems equipment located in the organization to include minicomputers, scanners, laser printers, color printers, modems, terminals, and system file servers; knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and ability to instruct and train users to produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of personal computer capabilities and limitations, peripheral equipment, software configuration, and automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques to provide a substantial range of technical support and assistance to users of personal computers in the unit.
2. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, policies, and processes covering the review, validation, and submission of a wide range of funds management and financial transactions under appropriated funds and reimbursable accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports.
3. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and ability to instruct and train users to produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
4. A qualified typist is required.
5. Skill in performing arithmetic computations and ability to prepare and maintain a variety of financial records.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
