The incumbents will serve as the Deputy Dental Chief of either the Watonga Service Unit or the El Reno Service Unit. The positions will provide administrative support to the Chief Dental Officer, supervisor dental staff and provide clinical dental services. These positions are located at the Watonga Indian Health Center and the El Reno Indian Health Center. This position reports to the Facility Unit Director of the Watonga Indian Health Center or the El Reno Indian Health Center.
Duties
Provides a full range of preventive dental services.
Prepares treatment plans for patients including assessment of the problem.
Assists the Dental Chief with the operation and management of the dental program.
Recommends improvements relating to services, staffing, operations and expansion.
Forms and maintains interpersonal community based relationships to carry out requisite community health projects.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) AND possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: Two years of professional dentistry experience and/or training. Your resume must demonstrate that your experience is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: making radiographic examinations of oral cavity, diagnosing pathological or irregular conditions, administering local anesthesia, performing simple and complex restoration of cavities, and performing single and relatively uncomplicated multiple extractions of teeth. Experience should also include performing administrative tasks such as assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating resources for dental services.
OR
Completion of a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.
Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position.
The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
