The individual selected for this job will serve as the Deputy Superintendent and be responsible supporting the Park Superintendent in the day-to-day operations of Badlands National Park and for supervising the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site.
Duties
Supervises Maintenance, Interpretation and Resource stewardship in Badlands National Park. Supervises the Minuteman National Historic Site in the capacity of Superintendent for the NHS.
Provides leadership in the development of policies, standards and procedures which govern the professional conduct of work related to the implementation of programs in the functional areas of public use management, resource stewardship, education and interpretation, park maintenance and safety management.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience which demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of park management principles, practices, techniques, laws, and regulations. Experience includes a variety of duties such as managing and supervising park or similar activities with an emphasis on natural management and protection, cultural and resource preservation and protection, visitor use and interpretation, and maintenance of physical facilities. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
