About the Position: This position has many vacancies located in Fort Myer, VA; Arlington National Cemetery, VA; and Fort McNair, VA (as needed).
Duties
Stands guard at a variety of fixed posts within the installation, exercising stringent security measures necessary to monitor and provide appropriate level of control of personnel and vehicles on the installation.
Restricts admission of persons who have not displayed proper identification.
Searches vehicles as required and manually operates traffic control to regulate flow o traffic entering and leaving the installation.
Patrols designated areas by vehicle or foot to check perimeter locks, fence gates and restricted areas.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires that you successfully complete Security Guard training.
- This position requires a Secret security clearance.
- Must submit to a pre-employment physical and maintain a level of physical fitness.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test and random testing thereafter. Must sign DA Form 5019-R.
- This position has been designated as Mission Essential.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires overtime and rotating shift work.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- This position has a requirement to carry a firearm and remain proficient in the use of assigned weapon.
- This position requires certification in CPR and First Aid.
- This position requires the incumbent to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- This position has IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program and The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
- This position requires the incumbent to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants, baton, and operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform.
- This position requires the incumbent to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
- This positions requires heavy lifting, up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. Applicants that are not entitled to veteran's preference will only be considered if applicants entitled to veteran's preference are not available for appointment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes any of the following: performing vehicle searches, confiscating unauthorized items, responding to critical incidents, verifying identification or controlling access to premises, and providing information on regulations, polices, or procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
