Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Maintains timecards for all Patient Care Service employees which involves independently and accurately posting all hours of duty.
Inputs data into the computer timekeeping program. Performs full range of timekeeping duties for the Patient Care Service Office.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word,Excel, Outlook, Power-point, etc.).
Operates an electronic office equipment, word processor, micro-computer, or computer terminal produce work accurately and efficiently.
Trains all managers on timekeeping during their orientation process.
Displays good communication skills; both oral and written.
Receives telephones calls and visitors, referring callers or directing visitors to appropriate persons.
Obtains the necessary documentation of all types of leave; verifies that leave is supported by adequate leave balances, within prescribed limits to avoid leave forfeitures.
Notifies Nurse Manages when unusual patterns of leave usage are being established.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm with rotation to odd shifts to meet the departments needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience performing full range of timekeeping duties; experience inputting data into the computer timekeeping program, maintaining timecards for employees which involves independently and accurately posting all hours of duty; experience obtaining the necessary documentation of all types of leave; verifying leave supported by adequate leave balances; posting of timecards, certifying timesheets records maintained by supervisors; prepares corrected timecards; annotates timecards with appropriate timecard remarks; experience filing timesheets and other related timekeeping documents. NOTE: This experience MUST be well documented in your resume to be creditable. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have have four (4) years of education above high school. OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond less than three years of undergraduate education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of these requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education beyond two years by 30. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Most of the work is performed while seated at a desk for potentially long periods of time, with limited stooping, lifting (less than 50 pounds), bending at files, and walking within the medical center. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infectious patients or patients who are potentially combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, sensible individual capable of working in occasionally stressful conditions.
Work Environment: The work is performed in a typical office setting with numerous office disruptions. Some duties may take the incumbent out of the office setting into the medical center.
