The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical support to the staff Podiatrists at the James A. Haley VAMC, Tampa Florida.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Receives/Interprets Requests for Procedures Secures Patients' confidence/cooperation Performs diagnostic tests and procedures Positions patients for procedures Maintains patient records Performs personal patient care Teaches patients proper health care practices Performs health care procedures Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am -4:00pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. **Award 50's do not provide sufficient information and will not be accepted for the purpose of verifying time-in-grade. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the below specialized experience and the above IOR by the closing date of this announcement. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Applicants must meet the below IOR to be further considered. Specialized Experience, positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Performs a range of support duties such as taking recordings and reporting to supervisor deviations in vital signs and taking and labeling specimens. Operates equipment and assists medical staff with or performs diagnostic procedures. Sets up equipment, determines technical factors and set controls. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but also requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying of light items. The work requires above average agility and dexterity. The work also requires heavy lifting of equipment and patients. Manual dexterity in handling instruments is required in order to accurately perform duties and avoid injury. Working Conditions: The work environment involves risks typically associated with performance medical work in direct patient care. Work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks or discomforts such as sharp instruments, chemicals, and diseases that require special safety precautions.
