You will serve as a RANGE SAFETY OFFICER TECHNICIAN in the N9 Ranges of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE CTR CORONADO.
Duties
You will will ensure all personnel under direct supervision receive a thorough explanation of the task to be performed, standard safety regulations and precautions, any unique restrictions or requirements, characteristics of the ordnance to be used.
You will ensure use of only weapons and target systems that are authorized for the evolution, and verifies usage in the manner specified by approved standard operating procedures (SOP's).
You will provide management and technical advisory support for training use of critical range facilities and specialized range/target systems.
You will assists in developing, implementing, and enforcing standard operating procedures for all NSWCEN range facilities and inspects to ensure compliance with established training and safety policies and guidelines.
You will assist the Range Complex Manager in oversight and documentation of NSWCEN range usage of specialized range/target systems at all training sites to help track range support operations.
You will assist with on-site range inspections and acceptability of range capability and operation based on organized monitoring and documentation of feedback from training.
You will perform a variety of logistics management tasks including: ordering, receiving, transporting, storing, and material inventory control and documentation of range materials and equipment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position requires a minimum of 5 years experience with all aspects of Naval Special Warfare and its combat skills training requirements, including support of joint combined warfare, fleet, expeditionary, and littoral warfare.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing management, compliance, operating and technical advisory support for training use of critical range facilities and specialized range/target systems.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
