About the Position: USA LEGAL CENTER AND SCHOOL DEFENSE INVESTIGATORS CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA One position will be filled at each location.

Duties

Serve as the principal adviser to the Regional Defense Counsel (RDC) on all matters related to Law Office Management and Operations. Plan, program, and execute contracts in support of legal operations and special programs. Identify personnel strength requirements, develops funding requirements, monitors case assignments, and monitors travel and equipment need. Manage all aspects of personnel management, including continuing legal education, certification, administration, and readiness of civilian and military personnel in multiple geographic locations. Serve as security manager for the regional field offices.

GS11-Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assist in developing contracts for special programs; provide advice on policies and/or plans in support of legal programs; analyze data to provide recommendations on manpower and resources; and perform administrative functions such as preparing legal documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS 12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administer contracts in support of programs such as legal and/or special programs; draft policies and procedures in support of legal programs; formulate budget requirements for the operations of the organization; and manage administrative functions such as monitoring training and logistics requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.
