The Office of Communications (AOC) is the FAA's one-stop shop for all things communications. AOC is responsible for the policy, direction, and management of the agency's communications with the media, Congress, industry, FAA's employees nationwide, and the public general public. AOC provides well-coordinated, innovative, creative, and effective communications programs and campaigns that incorporate traditional public affairs and media relations support, with modern digital tactics.

Duties

AOC also provides a full suite of resources covering administrative operations, media requests, press liaison activities, webmaster duties, speech writing, live event planning, and social media responsibilities. This position is located in the Office of the Assistant Administrator for Communications (AOC). The incumbent is a direct report to the Manager in the Social Media & Live Events Division, AOC-500. The Social Media & Live Events Division is responsible for identifying and connecting stakeholders through modern, digital means on state-of-the-art platforms enabling the agency to educate and connect with more people through a holistic approach to FAA's digital and outreach strategy. This includes content and search marking, social media, email marketing, as well as marketing automation, animation, editing, and audiovisual in general.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

  • Due to the Agency's 24/7/365 operation, incumbent may require working outside of normal duty hours. Specifically, the Program Manager must be flexible and ready to execute or oversee communications activities on evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Experience applying a full range of policies, principles, techniques, and best practices concerning communications and the development of informational materials. 2. Experience conveying information concerning various programs to both technical and non-technical audiences. 3. Experience using various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, reports, and presentations. 4. Experience working with employees, managers, and internal/external customers.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
