You will serve as an Aerospace Engineer in the AIR SYSTEMS GROUP, AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, SUBSYSTEMS DIVISION, FUEL SYSTEMS & AERIAL REFUELING BRANCH of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
There is one vacancy and will be filled in either Patuxent River, MD or Lakehurst, NJ duty location.
Duties
You will manage the personnel, policies, processes, and facilities related to the development, systems acquisition, and product support for the design, development, test and evaluation of aircraft components applicable to Naval aircraft.
You will Provide assistance with Subsystems SLAP/SLEP efforts
You will provide trained resources to program office teams in support of a life-cycle wide subsystems safety integrity program.
You will provide insight into system design tradeoffs made during acquisition phase; development and qualification history; failure modes and system interactions.
You will analyze aircraft subsystems for the Naval Aviation Subsystems Safety Integrity Program (NASSIP) and evaluate all aircraft subsystems to determine if the system,
subsystem or component is safety critical.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9/10/11 grade level or DP-3 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) managing the personnel, policies, processes, and facilities related to the development, systems acquisition, and product support for the design, development, test and evaluation of aircraft Fuel, Hydraulics, Thermal, Landing Gear, and Mechanical Subsystems and components applicable to Naval aircraft;
2) monitoring, assessing and extending the life of air vehicle subsystems in support of and ensuring subsystem safety and integrity;
3) Reviewing safety data and risk assessments to identify subsystem failure trends and solutions;
4) Communicating policies and procedures, and coordinating functions between various groups and to lead multidisciplinary activities to accomplish the Team mission and goals.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
