The primary purpose of this position is To lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
Duties
1. Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers.
2. Performs and checks work in progress to ensure that the supervisor's instructions are being followed.
3. Plans and lays out for journeyman and lower graded positions a variety of large complex commercial and industrial systems and supporting equipment used to condition air in warehouses, shops, hangars, hospitals, and large office buildings.
4. As the lead, assists in troubleshooting a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment.
5. Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

- A minimum of a Refrigeration Technician license including a Universal CFC certification IA W 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F., EPA, Protection of Environment PART 82-Protection of Stratospheric Ozone per AFI 32- I00 I Operations Management is req.
- Note: In order to obtain a Refrigeration Technician License, an individual must already have the Universal CFC certification. Must have a Massachusetts Refrigerant Contractor License or equivalent
- The position may require the employee to occasionally travel away from their normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft in support of official duties.
- Overtime may be required. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. May be required to be available after duty hours when problems arise.
- Comply with all Health and Safety guidelines and requirements for Federal employment. Employee will be required to support Base Readiness and Emergency Operations Exercises and Real-World Threats and Events.
- Employee will be required to support Special Events (i.e. Annual Air Show, Base Exercises) not necessarily performing in their primary skill code.
- The work may require the employee to carry a cell phone. Complete and maintain currency of all required ancillary training assigned.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
