The Equal Opportunity Assistant is aligned under the Equal Employment Opportunity Program Section of the Director's Office. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the EEO Managers and Specialists in providing administrative support in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) in Miami, Florida.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** This position requires detailed knowledge of Federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO). laws, regulations, procedures; compliance, enforcement; and knowledge of Federal personnel administration. Provides training on EEO process, scope and purpose of the law, and steps to engage in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Reviews EEO claims of discrimination as presented by the Office of Resolution Management (ORM) and obtains information arid data requested by ORM in a timely fashion. Incumbent discusses required documentation with HRMS and with managers and supervisors, as deemed appropriate-. Develops and provides written notices to responding management officials. Handles office operations regarding incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence. Maintains organized confidential filing system. Serves as primary assistant to EEO Manager and coordinates Diversity Advisory Board meetings, and schedules meetings. Serves as a mediator and mediates disputes in accordance with policies and procedures. Provides direct input an assistance in the development of the Annual EEO Program Status Report. Develops and provides written Equal Employment Opportunity notices. Provides assistance to the formulation of the EEO budget and serves as fund control point of contact. Performs other duties assigned. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Qualifications

GS-8: Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been gained at least the equivalent of the next lower grade level of (GS-7) in Federal service. Specialized experience would typically include: Providing technical support for all activities of an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program; coordinating and scheduling local mediations for resolution Equal Employment Opportunity claims and workplace disputes; preparing, presenting, and recommending findings for complex issues; maintaining organized confidential filing system; utilizing software packages such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Complaints Automated Tracking System, Dispute Resolution Tracking Database, etc.; conducting and developing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO and Diversity related training programs. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary but does require some walking to various areas in the medical center. The ability to use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time Is essential. The work routinely requires sitting,· standing, bending and carrying items such as books, papers, and files. Must perform verbal and written communication.,. Must .demonstrate emotional stability and clear judgment. Must have the ability to convey an attitude that fosters trusting relations, Must be able to maintain an objective, non-judgmental and calm approach with full appreciation of confidentiality. Works in an office setting utilizing sophisticated work techniques. The work environment is adequately heated, ventilated and the light is adequate. Must possess the ability to remain calm in an often highly stressful situation in which there are many deadlines and many interruptions. The incumbent may be required to work In different offices when assignments require it.
