You will serve as a PROGRAM ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in the The Department of Surgery, The School of Medicine (SOM) of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will provide a variety of administrative, analytical, and academic/educational technical guidance and assistance on administrative or academic operations, programs, and activities of the organization. You will manage and coordinate activities concerning academic and student programs and activities (i.e., student educational rotations, exam arrangements, scheduling, grading, etc.). You will work with administrators, managers, faculty, and staff in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and facilitating the processes to accomplish recruitment, admission, and matriculation of students. You will participate in the development and coordination of a variety of materials for administrative and/or academic programs and activities. You will schedule rooms online and collect, coordinate, and distribute program or academic/educational materials. You will evaluate various program information, procedures, processes, documentation, reports, or problems. You will establish, maintain, and monitor computer databases on department programs and operations.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-09 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: coordinating educational activities to monitor student progress, evaluate data, and determine solutions to administrative problems within an education program. For the GS-07 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing educational data or reports to provide recommendations and improve administrative processes within an education program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09 grade level:
  • Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR
  • Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree; OR
  • Successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; OR
  • A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
For the GS-07 grade level:
  • Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education; OR
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement; OR
  • A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
