You will serve as an EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST in the Safety Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Duties
You will conduct periodic inspections, assessments, and surveys of explosives facilities, equipment, and operations to identify and resolve program compliance variances.
You will identify deficiencies and non-compliance within each program through comprehensive knowledge of regulations, standards, procedures, and techniques.
You will evaluate a variety of complex and unconventional explosives safety problems and determine risk assessment of the hazardous processes and/or conditions identified.
You will develop and recommend specialized alternative courses of action to resolve hazardous conditions, unsafe work practices, and program compliance variances where current procedures are not directly applicable.
You will present formal explosives safety instructional classes in accordance to established quality management standards and adheres to instructor certification requirements.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires ongoing training requiring travel to and from TAD locations.
- Travel requirement - AMMO -74 – Explosive Safety Officers Orientation Course (initial course, instructor lead) requires initial training, requiring travel and recertification every 4 years.
- Travel requirement - AMMO – 29 - Electrical Explosive Safety for Naval Facilities (initial course, instructor lead) requires initial training, requiring travel and recertification every 4 years
- Travel requirement - AMMO – 36 - Explosive Safety for Naval Facility Planning (initial course, instructor lead) requires initial training, requiring travel and recertification every 5 years.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: implementing a comprehensive explosives safety management program to oversee the safe and efficient handling, storage, transportation, disposal, and treatment of explosives; analyzing safety gaps, deficiencies, and program compliance variances to develop explosives safety compliance.
