Serves as a management assistant in the state office of MA/CT/RI Rural Development (RD), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). NOTE: THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE OR VIRTUAL. THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE EXPECTED TO REPORT IN PERSON TO THE ASSIGNED DUTY LOCATION.

Duties

From program goals and milestones, establishes and maintains tracking databases and apprises top managers of progress. Reviews administrative regulations, procedures and policy directives to determine applicability to the office/division. Supports the development of staffing plans, employee development, and organizational design by tracking such data as turnover, hiring, etc. performs general office clerical and assistance functions.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. GS-5: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Skills in planning and managing the office's daily administrative functions, maintaining automated systems to record, reconcile, validate, and track data; gathering and compiling available data and information for aspects of a program and reports findings to a higher level employee; monitoring and reviewing established administrative procedures and program operations and assisting in the preparation of memoranda, reports and charts; using word processing, spreadsheet and database software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data. OR 4 full years of education above high school. Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. GS-06: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Experience planning and managing the office's daily administrative functions, maintaining automated systems to record, reconcile, validate, and track data; experience gathering and compiling available data and information for aspects of a program and reports findings to a higher level employee; and experience monitoring and reviewing established administrative procedures and program operations and assisting in the preparation of memoranda, reports and charts: using word processing, spreadsheet and database software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data. There is no substitution of education at this grade level. NOTE: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-0344 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement.
