The Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) will operate within the service located at the Miami, Florida VA Medical Center/Health Care System (VAMC/HCS) with several Community Based Outpatient Clines. This position is a Transportation Coordinator at the facility level and acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs.
Duties

Major Duties:
Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling.
Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety or reports.
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
Plans consult processing flow to ensure Veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
Plans and organize, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program.
Plans and directs programs that provide support services functions and require the application.
Review workload types in Veteran Transportation Service e.g., outpatient clinic visits, surgical admissions, daily validate program workload and ensure reporting is accurate.
Responds to action required notifications, ensuring the primary providers are correct.
Provides advisory services to the Supervisor regarding the requirements and implications of the office services provided.
Performs all duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for Transportation Assistant GS-6:
Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-5 in Federal service that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience is performing work involving appointment and/or admissions scheduling; performing a basic analysis of data and generating a variety or reports; reviewing documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies; ensuring data entry is complete and accurate; entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system and using of Microsoft software or other software programs.
English Language Proficiency:
In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. The incumbent is subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
