ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area - Clinical Services Division, Colorado River Service Unit, Moapa Health Clinic, Position is located in Moapa ,Nevada. Position is supervised by the Supervisory Physician (Clinical Director) at the Colorado River Service Unit. Primary responsibility of position is to provide primary care clinic patient care and leadership for Medical Services at the clinic.

Duties

Major Duties: Supervisory Duties- 25% Directly supervise physicians, mid-level providers, health technicians including performance appraisals, department scheduling, and yearly training and certification requirements and completing recruitment for positions and disciplinary actions. Reviews day-to-day operations, including Health Clinic needs and future needed positions. Physician Duties:- 75% Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history, and request and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case. Diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance and rehabilitation of patients. Prescribes and/or provides treatment and arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required. Refers patients to appropriate contracted medical or other government facilities thru coordinating and integrating information obtained into the ongoing Health Care Program at the Service Unit. Documents patient care procedures thru EHR (Electronic Heath Record) and works closely with allied health professionals. **This position is being announced concurrently under Excepted Service Examining Plan/Merit Promotion Plan (ESEP/MPP) procedures. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association, (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completed 5 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. And One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience with Administration management, Conflict management, Managing Human Resources for recruitment/placement/retention and coordinate the day-to -day clinical functions of an outpatient , inpatient and ambulatory care medical services; Management of work schedules for subordinate staff and approval of leave requests along with performance evaluations. Selective Placement Factor - Board Certification: In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Applicants who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. (Must submit a copy with your resume) Current Board Certification in the physician's specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Must submit the name of the Medical Board and certification dates with application. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
