About the Position: Perform surveillance, control, and onsite inspection of construction projects at all stages of construction for compliance with intent of design and specifications, to identify and resolve problems, and to inspect for final acceptance upon completion of projects.

Duties

Perform electrical inspections for activities and organizations that perform work or oversee contract work on any electrical components. Assist project designers, engineers, and architects, and participate in various design meetings to ensure final design plans are in compliance with all appropriate electrical guidelines and regulations. Review plans and specifications and the provisions of contracts. Resolve problems in the field not requiring of higher authority. Assure safe operating procedures are followed by the contractor, and that safety regulations are observed. Maintain surveillance over construction activities associated with specific phases of major construction projects.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09 or above). Specialized Experience (GS-11): One year of specialized experience which includes performing electrical inspection on exterior utilities such as high voltage electrical, water, wastewater lines, and natural gas lines to ensure installation is correct and proper conduit size is utilized; experience monitoring construction contracts involving electrical components; and ensuring safe operating procedures are followed by the contractor. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
