About the Position: Works under the general administrative direction of the District Commander who makes assignments of a very broad and general nature covering long range program plans, objectives and policies. Exercises considerable independent responsibility for accomplishing the district's mission referring to the Commander only on those matters involving major problems.

Duties

Serve as the principle contact and liaison with Congressional members and staffers, other Federal, State and Parish agencies and Municipal governments. Responsible for meeting established goals set by Congress, the administration, HQ and MVD. Collaborate with Congress, the administration and MVD to secure funding, authority and policy guidance for proposed and existing projects. Serve, along with the Director of Resource Management, as a member of the Regional Management Board, whose purpose is to allocate workload and review and recommend approval of district operating budgets to division commanders. Supervise a staff of program and project managers, administrative and support team members. Direct the staff through subordinate supervisors. Approve/disapprove the full range of personnel management actions organizational change proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors Oversee all phases of major projects to ensure integration and coordination within established timeframes and maintains corporate goals and objectives, consistent with commitments and policy, as well as measurable performance criteria.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service GS-14.
