THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER (TITLE 5), Position Description Number NGT5803700 and is part of the TN 134th ARW, Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 114 (Smoky Mountain Chapter).

Duties

As a Material Handler, WG-6907-06, you will receive, and process notice to stock parts and equipment. Store all in-warehouse supply and equipment items. Conduct periodic validation of warehouse locations. Inspect all classes of property for which the USPFO Accountable Officer has responsibility and/or accountability, including small arms, aircraft parts and components; motor vehicle parts; building and construction materials; special equipment; gasses, chemical, and wood products; packaged petroleum products: machines and communication equipment. Monitor material suspect program to eliminate possible hazards or substandard material. Identify incomplete items. Assist in formulating policies and procedures to ensure proper management, security, and control of all supplies and equipment in storage. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
• For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
• For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
• Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
• This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have at least 9 months of experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc.
