Duties
Space Domain Awareness is a condition critical for everything that the United States Space Force does in defending the nation. As the Chief Engineer for the Space Domaine Awareness (SDA) Acquisition Delta, you will sustain, improve, and acquire half of the USSF capability to sense what is happening in the Domain. Collaborate with multiple USSF and Mission Partner offices and functions to advance your system engagement.
Ideal candidate:
Acquisition engineering experience which involved leading teams and participating in milestone technical reviews, integration readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, qualification and verification reviews, configuration audits, and independent analysis activities for complex systems is highly valued. Professional Engineering (PE) certification is desirable.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques to apply experimental theories and new developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods, and to plan and execute specialized programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and significance.
2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
3. Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed, and in planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations as well as communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors as well as analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP-SECRET security clearance.
- This position is eligible for situational telework (2-4 days per pay period).
- PCS and incentives are authorized.

Education
Basic Educational Requirements
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
