This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Duties
Provides input on medical technology to local facilities and VISN on High-Cost/High-Tech requests
Monitors emerging medical technology and trends across the VISN;
Provides consultations on strategic equipment planning
Initiates and participates in technology assessment and product evaluations
Reviews and drafts local and VISN policies and procedures for implementation
Provides education and creates local and VISN training programs for medical technology
Establishes and shares best practices for maintaining and managing medical technology
Investigates and advises on medical device and information security issues
Provides maintenance and technology management to multiple VHA medical centers, both remotely and on-site as needed
Serves as an expert on specific medical technologies and provides consultation on medical technology systems that span across multiple medical centers in the VHA organization
Work Schedule: Full-time. Monday - Friday, Day Shift

Selected applicant will be required to come into the office 2x's a week.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Experience and Education:
Associates degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology or Biomedical Engineering Technology or in a related technical field such as Electronic Technology or Information Technology and two years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist, Biomedical Equipment Technician, Field Service Engineer, Medical Equipment Repairer, or Information Technology Specialist.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or in a related field such as Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or Information Technology.
OR
Completion of a military training program in biomedical equipment and two years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist or Biomedical Equipment Technician, Field Service Engineer, Medical Equipment Repairer or Information Technology Specialist.
Grade Determinations: For GS-13, applicants must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level of this occupation? Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: managing complete systems of central computerized networks, databases, analytic servers and medical device networks; managing computerized/networked imaging systems and databases; supervising and directing lower level BESS employees; and distributing and prioritizing the workload of BESS employees.
