This position is located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Gulfport, MS (AFRH-G), Healthcare Services. The primary purpose of the position is to schedule internal AFRH and external specialty care medical appointments, operate the referral management process, manage provider schedules, coordinate transportation and provide Dental Clinic Check-in Desk coverage.

As a MEDICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT (MEDICAL SCHEDULER AND RECEPTIONIST), you will:
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-05 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.
Specialized experience includes:
- Applying a standardized body of rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to perform a full range of support assignments (examples of support assignments may include: schedule coordination, appointment services, and reconciling problems); AND
- Providing customer service with individuals.
OR
Successfully completion of 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
A combination of education and experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-5, you must have been at the GS-4 level for 52 weeks
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
