OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.

Duties

As a Supervisory It Specialist (APPSW/INFOSEC), you will: Develop and design program plans and innovative approaches where no precedents exist and/or develop creative solutions to controversial problems; by directing teams; structuring assignments; drafting persuasive and concise reports and briefing materials; and determining the completeness and sufficiency of the work Supervise the research and development of project objectives, work plans, guidelines, scope, methods, staff requirements, and schedules to meet project needs. Analyze and interpret legislation and agency policies, coordinate with other Federal audit organizations such as the General Accountability Office and other oversight organizations to develop agency guidance in oversight areas and monitors new and interrelated agency-level systems and organizations. Modify and maintain existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To be qualified for this position at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves: - Experience with coding to develop web and database applications to support enterprise needs, as well as testing and implementing those solutions; AND - Experience planning and directing applications development staff who are responsible for software development; AND - Experience planning, implementing, and directing robust processes to ensure that threats and deficits in IT protection, operating capacities, and network stability are identified and remedied; AND - Experience planning, implementing, and directing overarching IT security projects and initiatives. In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
