Duties

If you are selected at the GS-13 level, you will perform the following duties: Provide expert advice in health science analysis in support of scientific program planning, management, and evaluation activities. Analyze the effectiveness of scientific programs and operations in meeting established cancer research goals. Coordinate data searches through automated systems and provide a wide range of liaison services to support cancer research. Highlight significant research findings and prepare summary reports, position papers and other documents, based on health science analyses and program evaluation methods. Provide recommendations and innovative approaches to address programmatic and administrative issues. Serve as an organizational representative to other offices, divisions, and centers, as well as other NIH institutes. If you are selected at the GS-12 level, you will essentially perform the same duties as those at the full performance level, described above, however, duties may be less complex and may be performed under closer supervision or with more detailed guidance.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirement: You must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accredited body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Additional Qualifications: You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing scientific support for the planning and management of clinical trials and translational research programs and/or projects; coordinating and maintaining data on cancer research programs; assisting in developing and presenting scientific reports, presentations, and other written materials; AND recommending strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of scientific operations. You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: evaluating the effectiveness of clinical trials and translational research programs and/or projects; synthesizing administrative, technical, and cancer research data into written documents, such as presentations and reports; recommending strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of scientific operations; identifying issues and making recommendations impacting cancer research program priorities and direction; AND organizing meetings and workgroups related to cancer genomics research. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
