This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position; to verify and analyze on and off equipment, malfunctions, troubleshoot, calibrate, modify, fabricate, test, align, inspect, repair, configure, de-configure, and load assigned integrated nuclear/conventional weapons delivery systems; and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Duties: 1: Troubleshoots integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems, electronic and electromechanical components, fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, subassemblies, Alternate Mission Equipment, and test equipment to determine nature of malfunctions and corrective actions required both on and off equipment. 2: Performs maintenance, repair, inspection, fabrication and modifications of integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems electronic and electro-mechanical components, fire controls systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and their subassemblies for both on and off equipment. 3: Removes/installs integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems electronic components, fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and subassemblies for both on and off equipment and associated test equipment. Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program, and complies with security regulations, directives, and policies. 4: Performs pretest, operational, functional, electrical, mechanical, and final testing of integrated nuclear/conventional weapon systems electronic components fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and their subassemblies both on and off equipment. Performs explosive operations, loads and unloads, positions, arms, and safes all assigned nuclear/conventional air munitions and pyrotechnics on assigned aircraft and or equipment. 5: Accomplishes configuration changes of integrated nuclear/conventional weapons control, launch, release, and suspension assemblies on assigned aircraft and equipment based on mission requirements. Plans and conducts training of reserve personnel, Active Duty, and other employees. Controls tools, cleans work areas and equipment, and completes work control documents in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6600 - Armament Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the work of an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic with little to no supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to clean work area and job site upon completion of work. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical orders relating to the electronics and electro-mechanical trades. 2: Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics and electro-mechanical trades. 3: Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities, and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices. Knowledge of related electronic, electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. 4: Ability to remove, install, modify, repair, maintain, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot complete electronic or electro-mechanical systems. Select and use electronic and electro-mechanical testing equipment. Ability to operate a computer. 5: Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, policy, and technical orders. Knowledge of tool equipment, and materials accountability and security. 6: knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its certification and documentation procedures. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) enlisted position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow the incumbent to fully participate in Unit Training Assemblies (UTA) weekends. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. 2: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. 3: This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. 4: This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 5: The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY) away from the normal duty station. 6: The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands. May be subject to shift work and uncommon tours of duty. 7: Perform other duties as assigned. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Work encompasses strenuous physical exertion when bending and shaping the more complex items in handling larger and bulker material. Requires physical effort which include prolonged standing; climbing up and down ladders and scaffolds; working cramped and awkward positions while installing items; and reaching, lifting, and bending while using hand and powered tools in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Heavy lifts (80 lbs. and over). Climbing heights up to 65 feet. Operation of crane, tractor, motor vehicle, or aerospace ground equipment. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13-16 inches to Jaeger 10 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Ability to distinguish shades of color. Hearing (air permitted). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Works inside and out, in inclement weather, on wet slipper, h ot/cold ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands. Subject to the danger from exposure to toxic fumes, fuel, high pressure air and fluids, electrical shock or burns caused by electrical or RF energy. Dangers also include engine noise, blast, ingestion, and fast actuating metal surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, and flaps. Will be required to transport, assemble, load, arm or safe any assigned munitions, explosive device, or assembly up to and including class 1 explosives. May be subject to the hazards related to the removal or disassembly of explosive devices or sub-assemblies from explosive laden aircraft. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
