About the Position: This position is located at the Desmond T Doss Health Clinic Logistics Service Department at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Duties

Evaluates, installs, maintains, diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and tests medical electronic equipment/systems used at Army Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs). Specifically, knowledge of information theory, computer science, and systems analysis to apply to integrated operational systems for specific and complex medical systems such as the Cardio/Patient Monitoring Systems, Imaging systems and DINPACS. Tests and classifies medical equipment in current use and determines serviceability, and disposition. Serves as a Project Manager involving the installation, service and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance. Performs software diagnosis to determine failure between software or hardware and correct system software or application program malfunction.

Requirements

  • 1 year probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Requires pre-employment physical.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying a wide variety of analytical and diagnostic techniques to assess performance of Patient Care Equipment (PCE), diagnose cause of equipment malfunctions; perform preventive maintenance of Patient Care Equipment and responsible for Patient Care Equipment (PCE) work in one of the following areas: Radiology, Laboratory, Patient Monitoring, or Pulmonary. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)OR Veterans Administration Biomedical Equipment Technician certification is desirable.
