About the Position: The position is located at Navy Hospital in Pensacola, FL, inside the linen room. Work hours are from 0800-1600 Monday-Friday, overtime may be available. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Receives, identifies, validates, weighs, unloads and stores on shelves and in appropriate areas (i.e. nurse server, supply room, space saver, etc.) all clean linens. Reviews for accuracy all daily requests for linen supplies. Makes requests for those activities that are on the cart exchange system using preestablished daily requirements. Selects linens by type, size and quantity; loads them into automatic transport carts. Weighs the carts and records weight on Daily Linen Request LOG. Issue and receiving uniforms to hospital staff, inventory, stocking and records keeping.

Requirements

• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position may require the incumbent to work overtime during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license that is not suspended or revoked.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Must be capable of pushing carts weighing up to 650 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Laundry Worker without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Laundry Work duties such as picking-up, receiving and loading dirty linen into hand trucks working from a conveyor belt. I can weigh loaded trucks on scales to assure accurate weight. I work under normal supervision of a supervisor who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Under normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating Competencies: Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that requires the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Worker may be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Incumbent must be able to handle or lift items up to 25 pounds. Must seek assistance in lifting anything over 25 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside building and on receiving and shipping dock. The area may be cold, drafty, humid, damp, or hot. Work is performed in close quarters in building or bin aisles, ramps, or platforms. Is exposed to moving laundry trucks, possibility of bruises from handling materials on materials handling equipment. Worker is exposed repeatedly to contaminate linen materials. Must wear protective masks, gloves, and gowns when handling laundry from patients with contagious diseases. Worker must be tactful and take precautions to preclude interfering with patient care when making deliveries.
