Duties
These are Student Trainee (Human Resources) positions participating in the Pathways Internship Program consisting of planned on-the-job training and academic study at a cooperating academic institution. Serving as a Student Trainee makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. These positions are located in the Human Capital Office (HCO), Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD), Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), in Glynco, Georgia. In these positions, you will serve as student trainees responsible for participating in a structured training plan which includes orientation on mission, functions, organizations and program relationships; training on the principles, methods, procedures and regulations applicable to the occupation; and training/rotational assignments among the various HCO branches, where feasible, to obtain an overview of the various missions and operations and their interrelationships in the human resources lifecycle. - Students who apply for the internship program must reside in the local commuting area. The local commuting area includes any population center and the surrounding localities where people live and routinely travel back and forth daily to their jobs.

The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
You qualify for the GS-03 grade level if you possess:
A. Successful completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study from an accredited college or university. You must provide a copy of your transcripts.
You qualify for the GS-04 grade level if you possess:
A. Successful completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree from an accredited college or university. You must provide a copy of your transcripts.
IF YOU ARE IN YOUR LAST SEMESTER/QUARTER of completing your degree/certificate requirements, you must show proof of acceptance to a continuing degree/certificate program. This may be documented by an acceptance letter for future enrollment in a degree/certificate program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps and AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
Education
The Pathways Intern will receive formal periodic assessments of progress and sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that FLETC will offer conversion.
You may be considered for conversion to a term or permanent appointment within 120 days of completion of degree requirements provided you:
•Successfully complete an academic course of study with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (on a 4.00 scale);
•Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience before completing your degree;
•Meet the qualification requirements for the position to which you are converted; and
•Maintain an acceptable level of performance.
