The Electrical Worker is in the Engineering Service at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS). The Electrical Worker has a working knowledge of all aspects of electrical circuits including working switches, relays and receptacles. The incumbent receives assignments from the Electrician Supervisor.
Duties
The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) is a level 1A integrated tertiary health care system comprised of medical centers in Nashville, TN and Murfreesboro, TN and twenty (20) additional community-based clinics in Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. TVHS provides ambulatory care, primary care, and secondary care in acute medicine and surgery, as well as specialized tertiary care, transplant services, spinal cord injury outpatient care, and a full range of extended care and mental health services. The Electrical Worker installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and performs preventive maintenance to devices related to the secondary electrical distribution system such as receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breaker panels, and electrical equipment on line, etc. The incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to:
Must possess working knowledge of the National and Local Building Codes.
Possess and maintain knowledge of NFPA 70E and practice safety at all times.
Measure, cut and bend such items as wire and conduit to specified lengths and angles.
Use and maintain tools, measuring equipment, test devices and instruments.
Read, interpret and understand electrical drawings and diagrams.
Install coaxial, computer and telephone cables.
Perform routine maintenance and incoming inspections on electrically powered personal property equipment such as electrical beds, dietetic equipment, etc.
Install new electrical circuits including conductors, conduit, B.M.T. wire mold, switches, junction boxes, receptacles, weather/explosion proof devices, etc.
Complete work orders daily as required for the computer system.
Prepare requests for materials and supplies.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Physical Requirements: The duties of this position require physical exertion involving lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects of varying weights, sizes and shapes. Physical effort is exerted in walking, running, climbing, crawling and bending. Straining related to lack of movement such as standing in place, crouching, or stooping for extended periods of time.
