You will serve as a Mechanical Engineer in the Commanding Officer, Facility and Infrastructure MGMT Dep, Facility and Plant Maintenenace Div of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will plan, coordinate, and/or perform technical investigation and research involving such technical and engineering/scientific disciplines as, environmental, industrial, safety, material, chemical, metallurgical, and structural.
You will coordinate and validate facility requirements in the use of new or emerging engineering processes.
You will evaluate the implications of technological changes on work planning and processes and ensure timely implementation and integration into team efforts.
You will develop in-house and outsourcing cost estimates and prepare contracts and delivery orders for contracted engineering services.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Professional knowledge of engineering concepts and principles acquired through successful completion of a full four-year engineering course of study from an accredited university. 2) Knowledge of program management and engineering experience in design and maintenance of complex mechanical facility process, aircraft process and plant equipment. 3) Knowledge of related branches of engineering such as, material, industrial, structural, and chemical disciplines. 4) Preparing and using technical directives and skill in communicating orally and in writing as a professional technical expert on complex technical matters. 5) Preparing proposals, cost estimates, project schedules, and related program management functions such as administrative relationships, the budgetary process, and the interfaces within Navy, DOD, Naval Aviation Systems organizations, and field
activities.
