You will serve as a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER in the Hazardous Waste Management, Environmental Affairs (EA) Division, Installation Support Directorate of the MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR, Twenty Nine Palms, California. Initial consideration for this announcement is limited to the number of applications listed at the top of this announcement. Duties

You will perform duties in identifying, collecting, transporting, segregation and processing or recycling of hazardous waste. You will operate one or more types of vehicles such as platform trucks, stake bed trucks, dump trucks, extended boom forklift, and other similar vehicles with a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds. You will complete paperwork such as Hazardous Waste Identification Documents, Bill of Lading, Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifesting Form, and other similar forms. You will operate hazardous waste sorting, recycling and treatment equipment. You will perform general duties in and around hazardous waste collection vehicles, Satellite Accumulation Areas, Spill Cleanup sites, and other hazardous waste areas in the accomplishment of hazardous waste and solid waste management operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must possess a Class B Driver's License and Forklift license or be able to obtain within six months of placement into the position.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Required to lift, move and carry loads, items and equipment that weighs up to 80 pounds.
  • This position is designated NONSENSITIVE. You must complete a NACI of SF-85. Failure to obtain a favorable Suitability Determination is grounds for removal.
  • Misuse of Government IT systems is cause for disciplinary action, including removal.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: having the ability to perform common tasks including identifying and segregating hazardous waste and materials. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
