You will serve as a Electrical Worker or Helper in the Lifting & Handling Department C/700 of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will work on machinery using basic hand tools of the trade (e.g., wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, and screwdrivers) and a small variety of test and measurement devices (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, meggers, phase rotation indicators).
You will perform electrical repairs, maintenance, tests, and modernization of electrical panels, diesel engines, travel trucks, hoist and other components on heavy mobile equipment including from 6 to 440 volts AC and DC, single and 3 phase types.
You will demonstrate a working knowledge of various techniques for removing, adjusting, calibrating, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts and components, such as relays, contactors, motors, circuit brakes and other items.
You will determine when parts should be cleaned and adjusted, or replaced and have a basic understanding of electrical theory applying to heavy duty vehicles.
You will perform work on electrical equipment and systems and be able to understand shop repair process and crane terminology.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Position my require physical exertion is required to lift, pull and carry equipment and/or tools of various sizes, shapes and weights; must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Position may require walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions, working in confined spaces, reaching and crawling under equipment for extended periods of time.
- May be required to climb vertical ladders, work from platforms, staging and work boxes which may be suspended from cranes.
- Work is frequently completed at a considerable distance above ground level and is occasionally required to climb the crane boom and perform work 150 feet or higher above the ground.
- May be required to operate a fork lift or mechanical lift(JL).
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
