About the Position: This position is in the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir of Resource Management, Materiel Mgmt. San Diego, California. San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, art studios museums and gardens. A deep harbor is the Home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public.

Duties

Assist with planning, development, and implementation of logistical policies and guidelines. Manage the inventory of supplies and disaster preparedness stock and contract actions. Oversee the daily operations of logistical functions to include Healthcare Contracting Support Service. Provide supervision and oversight over Contracting Support, Equipment, and Central Material Service within the Logistics Department. Manage the Command Purchase Card Program, which is comprised of approximately 49 cardholders and 20 Approving Officials assigned to the MTF. Administer the Command equipment budgeting and accountability program for Other Procurement, Defense Health Programs and minor equipment, encompassing all aspects of life cycle management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes provide guidance to customers, organization on administration supply management functions (e.g., inventory, storage, receiving, cataloging, property accountability, supply financial reporting, issuing, shipping, etc.). Determine supply policies, instructions, or procedures are being followed; gather and analyzing data to evaluate effectiveness of the supply program(s) and gathering budgetary information to help forecast budgetary needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
