The Motor Vehicle Operator is a position located at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS). The incumbent reports directly to the Supervisor Healthcare Engineers and performs duties directly contributing to the overall coordination and operation of the Nashville and Murfreesboro Medical Center campuses and various community-based outreach clinics (CBOCs).

Duties

The Motor Vehicle Operator's duties will include, but are not limited to: Operate a government vehicle for the purpose transporting carts, furniture, casework, equipment, and supplies as well as Engineering and maintenance personnel. Operate vehicles with a gross weight of less than 22,000 lbs. and capable of carrying loads from one to four tons. Responsible for packaging, loading/unloading, receiving & storing, issuing of equipment, supplies, furniture, and materials, as well as logging and accounting for such items. Assist in maintenance and repair of furniture systems, as well as maintenance and repair of equipment systems to facilitate moves, such as, plumbing fixtures and trim-out, removing and replacing electrical wall plates. Assist in maintenance and repair of property equipment/systems such as: cabinets, casework, blinds/shades, chairs, furniture and modular furniture. Vehicles to which the incumbent is assigned, he/she is responsible to clean and disinfect as necessary or as assigned. Assist facility maintenance workers as assigned by the Supervisor. Make only necessary and authorized trips to conserve fuel and ensure the use of the vehicle is business use only. Maintain mileage records by preparing trip tickets. Use a power sprayer and germicide to clean and disinfect surfaces, areas and cargo when or if required. Assisting maintenance personnel in performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, building service equipment and systems. Remove and install shelving, casework, grab bars, handrails, bulletin boards, coat hangers, blinds/shades, mirrors, televisions/monitors, art and other wall-hung items, doors, hardware, closers, door stops; disassembly/assembly of furniture, preparation of surfaces, patching and skimming walls, drywall repair, removal and installation of finishes, such as painting, flooring, base, wall covering, ceiling tile, and general maintenance and servicing of rooms. * The Motor Vehicle Operator incumbent must possess and maintain a current, valid state driver's license. (If selected, a copy of your legible, valid state driver's license will be requested.) Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, Occasional after-hours and weekend work will be required. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: ncumbent shall be in good physical condition. The job requires stooping, bending, climbing in and out of vehicles, pushing heavy carts, lifting boxes and furniture that may weigh 80-100 pounds, climbing stairs and good coordination is required to operate motor vehicles safely in all weather conditions. Working Conditions: Incumbent works inside and outside in all types of weather and is subject to constantly changing environments. Incumbent is subject to health hazards due to handling possibly contaminated items. Incumbent must able to drive in snow, rain, and other bad road conditions. Dust, grease, and soiling of clothing and skin surfaces - Incumbent is exposed to various hazardous materials in the course of assisting in work assignments. He/she is provided protective clothing, equipment, and safety devices for their personal protection.
