This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves in the CEPD, responsible for all matters related to the Chairman's Exercise Program (CEP), designed to improve the readiness of U.S. joint forces to conduct joint operations through the conduct of regularly scheduled strategic, national-level and coalition exercises that examine plans, policies, and procedures under a variety of simulated crisis situations.
Duties
As a EXERCISE AND INTERAGENCY SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Train and develop the skills of newly assigned military and civilian exercise planners to effectively plan and conduct exercise and training events.
Respond to complex issues, challenges and numerous stakeholders at the GS-15/O-6 and GO/FO/SES levels to build cohesive teams to design, plan, conduct, monitor and assess exercises to accomplish CEPD mission area requirements.
Maintain focus on current world events and influence training events and exercises to better train and prepare today's Joint Force in meeting the many challenges of conducting Joint operations and to support the role of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) as the global integrator.
Ensure adequate oversight of all Interorganizational engagement activities including engagement in partner forums and discussions, and maintain active awareness of Interorganizational trends, issues and emerging requirements.

- This position requires some CONUS and OCONUS travel. This position requires local travel for events in the National Capital Region (NCR).

- This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain classified courier orders.

- This position is Term: Not to Exceed 36 months -however, may be extended or terminated at the discretion of the agency, may be non comp converted to a permanent position at management discretion
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:
Facilitates training and joint exercises between Military and civilian mission partners;
Leading U.S. Exercise Planning Delegation for the agency and coordinates with senior leaders and inter-organizational partners in the participation of these exercises;
Represents policies and initiatives in Executive-level forums, executing sound judgment, and providing expert-level policy advice on behalf of Department-wide exercise policies and initiatives with other entities;
Directs the coordination of civilian mission partner requests for an agency and supports their exercise or training events.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
