This position is located within the Office of the Director (Office of Public Affairs) located at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw, MI. The primary purpose is responsible for developing, coordinating, shooting, editing and producing of a wide range of audiovisual products, audio media, and video, independently or combination in support of direct and indirect patient care, administrative and public affairs purposes, applying the appropriate rules/regulations.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but are not limited to the following. Video/Audio Documentation, Editing and Production (60%) Includes Pre-production & Post-Production - Performs work in the production of videotaped and live television programs; live and pre- recorded radio broadcasts; motion picture films; broadcast type closed circuit teleconferences; and other similar productions, such as slide shows with sound accompaniments. - Plans, organizes, and directs the work of writers, editors, actors, narrators, musicians, set designers, audio and lighting technicians, camera operators, and other associated technical personnel to produce, select, and arrange the actions, sounds, and visual effects required for the finished production. Audiovisual Equipment Support (10%) - Knowledge of a complex audiovisual control system and assistance in setting up and operating audiovisual equipment in support of SVAHCS-hosted meetings, conferences, presentations, and video/computer teleconferences. Knowledge to research for contracted equipment when needed. Photography Support (10%) - Provides photographic support to the SVAHCS's Public Affairs program by documenting award presentations, special ceremonies, events, and programs as needed. Web Administration (20%) - Develops and maintains the SVAHCS website while ensuring information is current, accurate, and serves as a useful resource for staff. Is responsible for the editorial management of content, security of the sites, quality, and style; technical development of new functionality including database management systems and communications technologies. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower graded level in federal service that has provided you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of an Audiovisual Production Specialist. Qualifying specialized experience includes developing, coordinating, shooting, editing, and producing of a wide range of audiovisual products, audio media, and video, in support of administrative and public affairs purposes, applying the appropriate rules/regulations. -OR- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D., equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education with a major field of study directly related to photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. (Transcripts Required) -OR- Combination: Equivalent combinations of specialized experience and education as described above may be used to meet the total requirements for this position. Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending or stretching, pushing carts of supplies, or recurring lifting of moderately heavy equipment. Manual dexterity between hands and eyes, and the ability to perceive and sense color hues and chroma accurately is necessary. Filming will frequently require lifting and moving hot tungsten lights (weight approximately 50 lbs.) and the use of thick gloves or other Personal Protection Equipment to prevent burns.
