Duties

Supervises a staff of 3-12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly or longer basis. Works in executing recreation events, programs and knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities. Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility. Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.

Qualifications

1.Must have knowledge of wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities. 2. Must have basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding for supplies and equipment. 3. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English). 4. Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed. Associate's or a bachelor's degree in e.g., Parks and Recreation, Outdoor Recreation, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sports and Recreation Management, Physical and Health Education. (Copies of official/unofficial transcripts must be submitted at time of application). Highly Preferred Criteria: Applicant must have a minimum 1-year experience in an Outdoor Recreation field, managing and supervising (minimum of 6 employees) of a multi operation facility, and experience, either professional or personal, in at least 2 of the areas listed: fishing, hunting, boating, camping, shooting, hiking, or RVing. NOTE: (experience must be reflected in the resume with applicable date(s) of employment and description of demonstrated work experience. Unverifiable response may affect overall rating). Applicants who meet the Minimum qualifications, & Highly Preferred Criteria will be referred to management for consideration first. All others may be referred if management does not make a selection from the Highly Preferred list.

Education

Associate's or a bachelor's degree in e.g., Parks and Recreation, Outdoor Recreation, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sports and Recreation Management, Physical and Health Education. (Copies of official/unofficial transcripts must be submitted at time of application).

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
