This position is part of the Office of the Secretary of Interior, Office of the Chief Information Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and conducting projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve operational efficiency.

Duties

Oversees, manages, and leads programmatic initiatives and the daily operations of the organization and collaborates with office leadership to ensure strategic alignment with the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department. Manages and coordinates tasking responses, work activities, assignments, and projects internal to the organization, within and across the Department, ensuring the timely completion of initiatives and requirements. Oversees and manages organizational action processing, compliance with standard operating procedures and processes, file maintenance and record-keeping in accordance with all applicable schedules. Manages and coordinates communications with bureaus/offices, for the CIO/DCIO's office including thoroughly reviewing all incoming correspondence, reports, policies, procedures, etc. for the CIO/DCIO' s approval. Coordinates the responsibilities of the CIO/DCIO. Advises/assists the CIO/DCIO with the management of program activities, agency mission/goals/administrative activities. Ensures an acceptable level of quality and standards for written material.

Qualifications

At the GS-15 level, you must meet the following qualification: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-14 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: developing and leading major strategic goals in support of Administrative and IT organizational initiatives (such as policy implementation and establishing management processes); working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to build effective change management; developing and reviewing correspondence on behalf of leadership. Preferred but not required experience includes: understanding and application of Chief Information Officer statutory responsibilities, such as the Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA), Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA), etc. Applicants must carefully review the information in the "How You Will Be Evaluated" section for important information and instructions pertaining to the multi-hurdle assessment process for this position. Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). A written test is not required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
