The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of Occupational Health Risk assessment consultations for the orgs Occupational and Environmental Health Division. This also includes providing consultation, via telephone and email, to Air Force technicians globally on the use and mgmt of equipment used to perform occupational health risk assessments.
Duties
Performs as an Environmental Safety Occupational Health (ESOH) Service Center lead Physical Science Technician in the providing occupational health risk assessment consultation to Air Force Bioenvironmental Technicians deployed and in-garrison.
Performs as an ESOH Service Center lead consultant in providing operational consultation regarding the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Repository (DOEHRS), IH module database, to Air Force Bioenvironmental Technicians deployed and in-garrison.
Act as the single Air Force DOEHRS Military Health System Help Desk delegate.
Facilitate Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Repository EOSH Service Center metric data communications between Department Educational Division, Knowledge Manager and consulting Divisions to optimize overall Department mission achievement.
Consultations related to data entry, documenting field level risk evaluations, managing electronic sample results, understanding DOEHRS reports, and general application of the DOEHRS database to the field level technician utilizing DOEHRS as a part of the Bioenvironmental Engineering Program.

- The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activity.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1311, Physical Science Technician Series, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1300/physical-science-technician-series-1311/ . Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks), or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience that includes providing occupational health risk consultation related to human exposure to contaminants found in the environmental and occupational air, water, soil and hazardous waste samples to determine regulatory compliance and facilitate health risk assessments. Examples of experience are: consultations related to selecting proper equipment and media to meet sampling requirements, application of appropriate government occupational health standards; documenting field level risk evaluations, managing electronic sample results, understanding standard database reports and other environmental and occupational health databases. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
In depth knowledge of all aspects of the field level Bioenvironmental engineering technician responsibilities. This includes all standard risk assessment methods, national consensus standards and related Air Force directives.
Advanced skills in utilizing all equipment authorized or required to be used to garrison and deployed by the Bioenvironmental Engineering career field including traditional equipment used to perform risk assessments, wartime deployments, and databases.
Ability to effectively communicate with a broad group of customers with diverse technical, academic, and experience backgrounds. This includes customers ranging from first term airman to Air Staff members and high school graduates to PhD and medical physicians.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
